Leyenda EP features five tracks and a real mixture of influences and rhythms.
The title track Leyenda is a dark and melancholic Cumbia ballad using a Colombian folklore approach- singing a story of love.
Brazil's Edu K and isa's long time admiration culminated in collaboration to create Funketa. The result is a mix of Baile Funk (one of Edu K's specialities) and Champeta (one of Isa's favourite Colombian rhythms). Steel drums with an infectious groove teleport us to the beach somewhere, enjoying the sunshine.
For Madre Tierra, Cani (Waya Waya) produced a dubstep track, while Isa takes the voice of Mother Earth. The deep bass sounds and rhythm reflect the depth of the lyrics.
El Monito features the talented Lido Pimienta on vocals. Ever-kindred souls, they had the idea of doing a song together so Isa sent the music to Lido for her to come up with some lyrics. Then destiny, & some organisation from Geko Jones (Que Bajo, NY), brought them together in person at Carnival de Barranquilla. The chemistry of this session is documented on the track. Upon making the music Isa said it's "a beautiful kids' song, making the music as a chant for one-day hearing children in Colombia singing it.
After being kept for a while in Isa's music vault and sampled in the banger Told Ya, Alegria sees the light in its original state.
The energy captured here inspires a sort of ritual evoking tradition of Vallenato singing, one of the most unique Colombian genres.
